Majestic Munsiyari

Nestled amidst the towering peaks of the Himalayas, the quaint village of Munsiyaribeckons travelers seeking solace, adventure, and breathtaking vistas. Far away from the hustle and bustle of city life, this hidden gem in Uttarakhand, India offers a glimpse into nature’s grandeur.

We started our journey from Delhi. There are 2 routes from where you can reach Munsiyari. First one is Delhi to Almora to Munsiyari which is the most commonly taken route. There is another route Delhi to Champawat to Munsiyari. We took the second route. We started around 12 pm in afternoon from Delhi. This route is amazing route with very less traffic. We reached Champawat around 9 pm and checked into a hotel in Champawat market. Make sure to reach Champawat bit early as market closed by 9.30-10 pm.

We started our onward journey next day. One of the best road trip that I took. As we were travelling during summer, weather was bit hot to start with. As afternoon approached, there were thunderstorms that started and light drizzle continued till evening. On the way to Munsiyari, we came across a beautiful waterfall near Madkote. It’s literally on the road. It’s fun to drive from under the waterfall. And you are also accompanied by Gori ganga river. As you go ahead, the landscape starts changing. As you reach near Munsiyari, you start seeing the snow capped peaks. As you reach Munsiyari, you get to view the majestic panchachuli peaks. Trust me, it’s sight to behold.

We reached Munsiyari just around sunset. The best part about hotels in Munsiyari is that you will always get the view of Panchachuli peaks. We checked in to hotel and immediately took a seat to watch the unfolding sunset with a cup of tea and pakode.

We woke up next and went for Khaliya top trek. It’s and easy treak, but due to ongoing road works, we reached starting point an around 1 pm. Started the trek and reached camping spot around 3-4 pm. Decided to stay overnight. Old KMVN property is present where you can stay. But the catch is there is no electricity, no running water. Just basic bed and blankets. If you decide to stay overnight, you can get dinner from nearby stall that manages the property as well. You will get electricity for only 1 hour during which you can charge your mobiles. We had a really good time. Lit t bonfire and then wake up early morning to continue onwards trek. We were treated to a beautiful sunset

We stayed onwards journey around 6am. After around an hour, we reached a bugyal(meadow). As we started early, there was no one there apart from us. Took a lot of photographs and videos

We spent a very long time here admiring the beauty all around. It was another 1 km to khaliya top, which we didn’t go for as we had to reach chakauri before sunset. Started our descend and reached Khaliya seat around 1-1.30 pm.
While returning, we decided to take route through Almora. We took a stop at birthi falls.

Rather than directly going to Almora, we decided to stay at Chakauri.
Best part about Munsiyari is that it’s still untouched by tourist. The beauty around is still raw. There is peace, tranquility. Watching the majestic panchachuli peaks is one amazing experience. The place is amazing for trekkers, for photographers or for anyone who just want to relax
